Our Approach to Restoring Resilient Forests
Movement-Building
American Forests’ place-based partnerships are the foundation of our work advancing reforestation in key landscapes. We work with organizations as small as local conservation groups and as large as the United States Forest Service to restore healthy, thriving forests.
This program strives to achieve these goals by 2030:
More than 1/4
of our carbon emissions are captured by America's forests and wood products annually, catalyzed by forest conservation and climate-smart forestry.
1 trillion trees
have been conserved, restored and grown aroundthe world.
20 million acres
of public land have been reforested by planting and naturally regenerating more than 6 billion trees.
Our Approach to Restoring Resilient Forests
Innovation
American Forests’ climate-smart forest restoration methods foster forests that can better withstand extreme weather, such as prolonged drought and severe wildfire. We test new, more effective ways of planting and caring for trees in landscapes from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas to the hills of Paradise, California.
